As part of CISSS outreach activities RT-II paid and introductory visit to Information Department, Government of Sindh, Karachi on 21 March 2024. The delegation comprising of Research Officers Ms Safia Malik, Mr Tarique Ahmed Abro, Mr Zeeshan Hyder and Research Assistant Ms Areeba Mumtaz was headed by Director Research Mr Aftab Hussain. The purpose of the visit was to introduce CISSS to Information Department and discuss the areas of mutual interest and scope of future collaboration between the two organisations. Team CISSS was received by Director General Public Relations (DGPR) Mr Muhammad Saleem Khan. Director Information (Admin and Accounts) Mr Muhammad Yousif Kabooro, Director Information (Press Information) Mr Akhtar Surhio and Mr Aleem Uddin Khan (Deputy Director Information) were also in attendance. Director Research Mr Aftab Hussain briefed the Director General about the aims, objectives, vision and Research Team of CISSS, and apprised him about the activities that CISSS has performed so far. DGPR also gave an overview of the Information Department and informed the delegation about the organogram, aims, objectives, and its outreach. It was mutually agreed that both the organisations would collaborate in following areas: (i) It was agreed that CISSS shall hold a capacity-building workshop in future on strategic affairs and the challenges posed by hybrid warfare for the officers of Information Department; (ii) It was agreed that CISSS shall frequently contribute opinion pieces on important issues of national and global significance to the official publications of Information Department; (iii) It was agreed that Information Department shall extend all possible assistance to CISSS as regards to publication of their press releases and opinion pieces; (iv) It was agreed that Information Department shall extend all possible assistance to CISSS as regards to media coverage of CISSS events; (v) It was agreed that Information Department shall extend all possible assistance to CISSS as regards to establish linkages with various journalistic bodies in Karachi; and (vi) It was agreed that Information Department shall arrange a meeting between CISSS and the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) after Eid al-Fitr. DGPR was highly appreciative of team CISSS’s efforts and assured his full support and cooperation; DGPR, along with his team, shall pay a visit to CISSS after Eid al-Fitr; At the end of the meeting, Director Research Mr Aftab Hussain presented a souvenir to DGPR Mr Muhammad Saleem Khan.
