Zaeem Hassan Mehmood

Zaeem Hassan Mehmood is Research Officer at Center for International Strategic Studies Sindh (CISSS). He is a PhD scholar of International Relations and Political Science at Greenwich University. He has a Masters of Philosophy in Strategic Studies from National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad, specializing in maritime strategy, strategic stability and blue economy in the broader Asia-Pacific region. He was associated in the capacity of Research Analyst with National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA), a center of excellence established by Government of Pakistan to provide policy guidelines to address various challenges in the maritime industry. During this time, he also served as an Associate Editor for Maritime Watch, Pakistan’s first monthly news digest on maritime affairs.

Later, he joined a financial market firm as Manager Research and Analysis where he assessed the impact of national and international developments on the equity market, focusing on the energy sector commodities and oil refineries in Pakistan. Moreover, he was also overseeing cotton market, insurance premiums and freight of the shipping lines. He has attended workshops organized by the World Bank Group, International Maritime Organization (IMO), Stimson Centre, McKinsey & Company and Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) on field research, adaptive leadership, fiscal sustainability, private financing, contemporary strategy and emerging technologies among other things.

His writings on thematic issues in globalization and foreign policy have appeared on reputed national and international journals. Mr. Zaeem was part of Faculty Development Workshop (FDW) held at Faculty of Contemporary Studies, NDU and has given lectures at Bahria University and National Defence University on Indian Ocean politics, maritime strategy and revolution in military affairs. He is a reviewer for International Journal of Interdisciplinary Global Studies and International Journal of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Journal.
