Team CISSS comprising Assistant Director Research Dr Saba Sahar, Research Officer Abdul Samad and Research Assistant Jawad Shah visited Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) on 16 February 2023 and held a meeting with the Managing Director Dr Ghulam Mustafa Suhag and his team.
Dr Saba briefed STEVTA authorities about the vision of CISSS which seeks to develop a better understanding of provincial and national issues. She added that CISSS strives to highlight the socio-economic development of Sindh, especially in education and health.
Dr Suhag informed that STEVTA has a mandate to provide vocational, skills-based training to nurture a trained workforce that can compete in the local and international labour market. Across Sindh, there are 252 vocational and training institutes working towards manpower training. STEVTA works closely with industry partners to ensure employability of graduates.
During the interaction, Team CISSS proposed to write a research paper to highlight the work being done by STEVTA and help identify the gaps in the labour market. Dr Suhag underlined that research collaboration with CISSS is imperative towards identifying the jobs of the future, particularly in the IT sector. The meeting concluded with the possibility of signing a MoU between two organisations in the future.
