Author Guidelines

Global Strategic Pulse (GSP) is a biannual, double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Center for International Strategic Studies Sindh (CISSS). It invites original, unpublished research papers and book reviews from scholars in the field of international strategic studies and related disciplines.

Submission Guidelines

  • Format: Manuscripts must be submitted in MS Word format. Please include a separate file with a brief introduction of the author(s) and complete contact details.
  • Word Limit:
    • Research Papers: 4000-5000 words, including an abstract of 150-250 words, 5-6 keywords, and footnotes
    • Book Reviews: 800-1000 words
  • Citation Style: Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition

Editorial and Peer Review Process

  • Screening: All submissions are first screened using plagiarism detection software.
  • Review: Shortlisted articles undergo a double-blind peer review process. Authors may be required to make revisions based on feedback, which may involve multiple rounds.
  • Timelines: Review timelines depend on reviewer availability and responsiveness.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs) or submission fees. 

Publication Terms

By submitting to GSP, authors affirm that the manuscript is original and has not been published or is under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts must have permission for publication from all concerned author(s) and relevant authorities. If accepted, the manuscript will not be published in the same form or language elsewhere without prior consent from the publisher. The editorial team reserves the right to edit or alter submissions, with authors receiving a proof before final publication.

Similarity Score Index (SSI):

The GSP Editorial Team authenticates the plagiarism/similarity check process by using Turnitin software. As per HEC policy, the Similarity Score Index (SSI) must not exceed 19%. Furthermore,  in case, if any single source has similarity index >=5% without citation then it needs to be revised.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The title should be concise, informative and comprehensible to readers outside the field. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae whenever possible.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The Abstract should contain no more than 250 Words. A concise and factual abstract is required. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results, and major conclusions.
  • • Include up to 5 keywords immediately after the Abstract
    • All figures (including figure captions)
    • All tables (including titles, description and footnotes)
    • Graphical Abstracts / Highlights files (where applicable
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point Times New Roman font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
